Introduction

Hey everyone, here it is, the story of my wedding trip.

Please leave a message, comment, ask questions, let me know you were here.

Friday October 12, 2007

Got up at 5:30 am to get ready and get some last minute stuff done.

Took Willow to SuperDog Central, she wasn't too happy, I think she knew I was leaving her.

I worked 8-11:30, then headed to the airport, driving myself this time.

I had an aisle seat this time and the lady that sat next to me was pretty rude. She didn't seem to realize that there was someone in the seat beside her, hogging the whole arm rest and at one point even using my leg to aid herself back into her seat!

The flight was very turbulant at the beginning with little pockets here and there throughout.

We made it to Rome for 7:00 am (their time).

Saturday October 13, 2007

Had to wait two hours in Rome for the next flight. I chatted with one of the ladies that I travelled with from Canada who was coming from Vancouver.

Again we had a lot of turbulence on the way, but landed safely at 12:30.

Ischia Island off the coast of Italy.

I found Mohab easily, like last time head above the crowd, huge smile.

We came back tot he hotel and slept for a while then went out and got some dinner and walked around for a bit.

Sunday October 14, 2007

We got up early to go to the embassy to sign the declaration, but they were closed for Eid.

We went to get my passport visa stamped (a temporary residence visa), but they said at the office that I didn't need to have it done because I have two exit visas and three entry visas.

So we went to an amusement park near Giza and hung out there for a while. I got my first henna tattoo.

We went to his parents for dinner who were very happy to see their soon-to-be daughter-in-law.

Monday October 15, 2007

Again we went to the embassy and this time they were open so we got the declaration filled out.

Then we went and got my pictures done. We went to the museum after that. At one point we were standing looking at a statue and I heard a voice that sounded kind of familiar, I turn and it's the lady from Vancouver that I was on the plane with! What a small world.

We went to the Koshari place at Tahrir Square that we went to on the first trip, we even ended up at the same table. We then headed back to the hotel for some R&R.

After we went to a restaurant down the street from the hotel called Armando and had Egyptian style fajitas and ice cream for dinner.

Tuesday October 16, 2007

We got up really early and headed again for the embassy to pick up the finished declaration. Then went to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Then off to the post office for a "family stamp". Then to the marriage office where they said that, yes, I do indeed need the stamp. So back we went to get it done, standing in line in a hot building for what seemed like forever, and then back to the marriage office to sit and wait.

We were called into a room to have some papers filled out, then to another to pay (they said that Mohab's dowry was only 2 EP so that our fees were cheaper), then to a third to sign, and that was it. We were married.

We exchanged our rings in a taxi, went to Pizza Hut for lunch, then back to the hotel for a bit. (Not at all stuck on tradition)

In the evening we went to his parents for dinner.

Today, for the first time ever, I saw it rain in Cairo, during the day, while it was still hot. In Egypt they say that it is good luck for it to rain on your wedding day.

Wednesday October 17, 2007

We slept a bit later, I have a cold. We worked on the immigration papers for most of the day and then headed to the Giza Sound and Light show. When we got there they told us that it was closed for a private party. We walked around town for a bit and had chinese for dinner.
